Reinvention Through Travel™
Travel as a pathway to possibility, self-discovery and a self-directed life.
What happens when we step outside the familiar and give ourselves the chance to imagine a different life? Reinvention Through Travel™ grew from my own journey from scientist and corporate professional to global explorer, author and creator of a more self-directed life.
THE BOOK
The World Is My Mirror
One Woman’s Global Journey to Reinvention
The World Is My Mirror is a literary memoir told in vignettes—reflective, self-contained chapters tracing a journey through loss, travel, self-discovery, and reinvention. Through encounters and experiences across the world, it explores how stepping beyond the familiar opened new possibilities for purpose, identity, and a more self-directed life.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Meet Riza
Dr. Riza Rasco is a scientist-turned-global explorer, author, and internationally recognized leader whose work spans travel, women’s leadership, and social impact. Following a successful career in the life sciences, she stepped away from corporate life and embarked on a journey around the world that led to profound personal reinvention and a renewed sense of purpose.
Travel exposed Riza to new people, cultures, ideas, and possibilities and gave her the space to discover what else she might do with her life. Along the way, she discovered a passion for creating, building communities, and using travel as a force for meaningful contribution.
These experiences became the foundation of Reinvention Through Travel™, a philosophy exploring travel as a pathway to possibility, self-discovery, and a self-directed life. At its heart is a belief shaped by Riza’s own experience: travel does not reinvent us, but it can give us the distance, experiences, and perspective to see ourselves differently and imagine new possibilities for how we choose to live.
Riza is the first Filipino to have traveled to all 203 countries (193 UN member states) and all 82 provinces of the Philippines. As Co-Founder and Chairman of the Philippine Global Explorers, she has helped pioneer a “travel for impact” model that mobilizes Filipino travelers to support education, heritage and environmental preservation, sustainable tourism, and community development.
Her journey also inspired her memoir, The World Is My Mirror: One Woman’s Global Journey to Reinvention, the personal story from which the philosophy of Reinvention Through Travel emerged.
Today, Riza continues to travel, write, build communities, and contribute to projects she believes in. Through her writing, speaking, and leadership, she explores how travel can expand our understanding of ourselves and the world, and how the experiences we gather along the way can become a source of purpose and positive change.
